Link Farm or Link Farming
A link farm is a Web page that is nothing more than a page of links to other sites. These are used to increase the PageRank through an artificial way. In link farms, every website links to every other website but these techniques are considered “spam” by the search engines now days. You can be penalized if you use these techniques.
Link farms are websites that exist for the sole purpose of populating the site with tons of useless, irrelevant links for the purpose of pushing those links to sites owned by naïve clients believing that the getting these links pointing to them will be beneficial for their websites. Link farms are sites that are linked together for no other reason than to boost their popularity.
Link farming is a process of exchanging reciprocal links with Web sites in order to increase search engine optimization. But, Google and other big search engines don't like sites that try to artificially increase the PageRank of sites by adding lots of links. Search engines such as Google consider link farming as a form of spam and have been implementing procedures to banish sites that participate in link farming, so the term link farming has garnered negative connotations across the Internet.
Remember that SEO links are not just the number of links back to your website that contribute to your rank jackpot. What counts is where your URL is placed, the amount and quality of its neighbor links and whether or not the page is even linked to the main domain at all.
