Onsite Optimization or On-Site SEO

The first step towards achieving a higher search ranking is through onsite optimization. There is no easy way to get to the top of Google but onsite web site optimization is a must if you want your company's website to even advance forward.

Onsite optimization analyzes the text, code, and general structure of a website. The text and code on a web page are the meat a search engine web crawler consumes. Pictures and graphics are ignored. To properly analyze a website for onsite optimization, you must think of the site not only as text, but also HTML code.

On-site SEO is highly important for ensuring that your site or blog features prominently in organic searches, for your most important keywords and phrases.

Here are some main points you need to look at when starting your on-site or on-page optimization process.

* Title Tag - Use the title tag to define a descriptive title for each web page on your website.

* Meta Tag - Use the meta tag to place relevant keywords and phrases related to your website.

* H1 and H2 Tag - Make sure it’s relevant if you’re going to put the keyword in it.

* Body Text - Develop the body of each webpage with the proper use of right keywords. Do not put dozens of keywords at the bottom. Try to follow the keywords and phrases in the title and meta tags.

* Image ALT Descriptions - If the image relates to the keyword, make sure to put the keyword in the description. This also helps hearing impaired people.

* Avoid Content Duplication - Google hate duplicated content. Therefore, what you need to do is to ensure that your entire website does not have it.

* URL Structure - Choose a simple / SEO friendly URL structure for your website. Develop the website with a logical URL that has a structure that uses names that relate to the content on each page.

* Sub-domain - Use Sub-domain properly. If you have product pages, make sure the URL reflects that product.

* Sitemap - Create a simple sitemap, which is simply a file with a list of all the URLs you want crawled on your site.

SEO techniques can be broken down into two general categories – onsite optimization and offsite optimization. Onsite optimization means things that you have to do on your website in order to be ranked well in the search engines. Both on-site and off-site optimization help the search engines categorize your site and rank it higher.

On-site optimization is more under your control than off-site optimization. So you need to make sure each page of your site is well optimized and then think for offsite optimization.
